New Curwen Archive Exhibition featuring highlights from Curwen’s history

Curwen History Exhibition 2024.jpg

Archive curator Grace Hailstone with Technician and Tutor Anne Pit have hung the latest exhibition in the Curwen Print Study Centre’s Gallery space: ‘Curwen Icons’.

Featuring some of the biggest names in Curwen history, the exhibition features lithographs dating from the 1960s onwards, all made under the Directorship of Master Printer Stanley Jones at the Curwen Studio.

Many of the lithographs in the exhibition are working proofs or state proofs which were made before the final edition was finished.

Artists on view include Henry Moore, Ceri Richards, Paula Rego, Edward Bawden, Elisabeth Frink, Stanley Jones, Susan Aldworth, Lynn Chadwick, David Gentleman and John Piper. A highlight on display is this portrait of Aloys Senefelder, the inventor of lithography (pictured) by Graham Sutherland dating from 1971.

The exhibition is free to visit, during our opening times, Mon - Fri 10am - 4pm
