It will show how this medium can be interpreted widely by individuals and can take a sketch or drawing and develop it further and create a hand made print that is both original as well as being part of an edition of prints.
The course will cover the preparation of plates, the range of mark making options within the medium and will focus on how the drawn mark of the individual can be translated into the etching medium.
Course structure
• Learn how to prepare a plate, put grounds on, experiment with marks via different tools, etch in acid, proof and print finished works from the plate.
• Learn how to take your drawings or photographic reference material and translate it into the print medium via hard ground, soft ground and aquatint.
• Planning how to Ink and print plates and learn how to achieve the best results from the correct paper dampness, press pressure and considered plate wiping.
