Introduction to Gelli Plate Printing
1 day course
30 October 2024, 8 April, 4 August, 6 December 2025
10am to 4pm
£95 including all materials
Gelli Plates are made of a thick, flexible, single layer of a
gelatine-like plastic material which contains mineral oil. These plates
are durable, reusable, easily cleaned and are ideal for monoprinting
without a press. There are many ways to use Gelli plates to print – it
really is all about working in an experimental, expressive, spontaneous
and creative way. Learn which paint works best for the methods, how to
plan for your layered printing, and how to ink up and print with a Gelli
plate. Create layered prints using drawing methods, transferred
magazine or photographic images, and use masks and cut shapes to add
interest. By the end of the course, you will have a good understanding
of this new and exciting technique and a set of unique prints.
