Screen Printing – the Drawing Fluid Method

Book this course and Screen Reduction printing using screen filler course at the same time and save £10

Screen printing, sometimes called serigraphy or silk screen printing, uses the method of creating an image on paper or fabric by pushing ink through a screen mesh with areas blocked off by stencils. The stencils can be made from paper, drawing fluid, screen filler or a light sensitive emulsion.
On this course you will learn how to use drawing fluid to create positive stencils and/or screen filler to create negative stencils directly on the screen. This technique is a great alternative to using a light sensitive emulsion stencil and it enables you to capture a wide range of expressive autographic marks in your screen print. The stencils are created by painting an image directly onto the screen, you can work free hand or trace a printed/drawn image. You will be assisted in developing your image to make it suitable for this process. You will also learn how to set up the equipment, mix inks and use a squeegee to print your image onto paper. By the end of the course, you will have created a variable edition of at least 8x A4 prints.  Screen filler and drawing fluid are great tools for creating screen stencils without the need for complicated equipment and as such they are ideal for a home practice.
