Description
Solarplate printmaking uses a metal plate coated in a light-sensitive polymer to create either a relief printing plate or an intaglio printing plate. On this two-day course you will learn how to use a UV exposure unit and natural sunlight to create both types of plate, and how to develop them in water. Using hand-drawn and photographic artwork as well as found objects and natural materials, you will be able to explore the delicate sensitivity and potential of this non-toxic technique to capture intricate details. You will be able to experiment with blind embossing, masking, and combining plates. By the end of the course, you will have created a variety of prints to take home.
