After over 20 years at our previous studio Chilford Hall in Linton we
moved in March this year to new studios at Great Thurlow, Suffolk. To
recognise this milestone Artist Printmaker, and Curwen Trustee, David
Borrington MA RCA has created a unique limited edition print which could
be yours to own.
The print titled 'Let's go to Thurlow!", is a copper plate etching, with
aquatint, and hand coloured, on quarter size Imperial Somerset paper
printed by David at Dekkle Studio in Baldock, Hertfordshire. The image
was designed and hand drawn by David and contains images and references
to the history and journey of Curwen over the years with our Curwen
logo, our previous studio building, presses, prints created at Curwen
and people who have been a key part of the journey including Stanley
Jones MBE and Sam Alper OBE. Also in David's design are many hands
depicting the hands of the Tonic Sol-fa system adapted and printed by
John Curwen in the 1850's, designed to help teach music sight reading to
make music accessible to all classes.
