The Curwen Print Study Centre opens its studio to everyone over the weekend of 4th and 5th June from 11am to 5pm each day. The studio based at Chilford Hall, Linton, CB21 4LE is in the midst of the Cambridgeshire countryside with plenty of free parking immediately outside the studio.
This is your chance to see a professional print studio in operation with tutors demonstrating print techniques whilst exhibiting their own work. The printing presses are works of art in themselves decorated with Eagles, Serpents, standing on clawed feet and dating back to the 1860’s.
Visitors will have the opportunity to buy Artist Original prints alongside printmaking materials including a variety of paper, plus start up kits should you become inspired to try printmaking at home.
Tutors will be available to discuss courses available at Curwen and show examples of prints that can be achieved here in the studio. Courses are available for everyone from the age of 8 years old and offer opportunities for those completely new to printmaking through to experienced printmakers. Course brochures will be available for visitors to take away including details of our Educational programme for schools.
As a registered charity Curwen is always trying to raise funds to upgrade and improve equipment and facilities. You can help by buying a raffle ticket for our Artist Print Raffle in which every ticket is a winner! We are lucky to have work donated by John Bellany RA, Chloe Cheese MA RCA, Stanley Jones MBE, John Mills ARCA PPRBS FRSA, Mark Hearld plus other generous Artists. Tickets are £20 and will be drawn at 4pm on Sunday 5th June.
“With its superb facilities and excellent tutors, Curwen Print Study Centre is the best of its kind in Europe – I can recommend a day there for people of all ages and levels of experience.”
Richard Hickman – Senior Lecturer in Education, University of Cambridge. Director of Studies for Art History, Homerton College, Cambridge.
We hope to see you.
